From Childhood Dreams to Event Magic

Glen MacArthur, owner of Rays of Light, discovered his love for lighting at the age of 13, in a bedroom transformed into a miniature drive-in movie theater. Using Matchbox cars, toy trucks, and even Star Wars figures, he staged concerts and shows with makeshift stages, floodlights, and his first DIY lightboard built alongside his father. “That little project grew and evolved with me over the next few years,” Glen recalls. “The rest is history.”

A Passion Turns Professional

While Glen always enjoyed lighting for dance floors at other DJs’ events, his true spark came in 2001 when his wife gifted him a single, large moving light. Inspired, he quickly expanded his collection, adding four more moving lights and numerous up-lights, and started booking jobs regularly. By 2002, he had incorporated his business, officially launching Rays of Light and bringing his growing vision to life. This foundation set the stage for the events that would define his career: celebrations filled with energy, engagement, and unforgettable moments.

The Events That Shine Brightest

For Glen, the most memorable events are those where guests are fully engaged - dancing, celebrating, and creating memories. Weddings and mitzvahs top his list for that reason. A standout event was a New Year’s Eve celebration at Gulfstream Park between 2017 and 2019, where Glen set up a 40-foot-high disco ball over a fountain. At midnight, with his sons controlling lights and strobe effects, the crowd was electrified under a canopy of three-foot-wide LED stars. “Even though my boys are no longer interested in lighting, that moment sitting next to them and seeing them operate the lights in front of the largest crowd my company has ever illuminated was incredibly special,” Glen reflects.

Keeping Calm When Things Don’t Go as Planned

Challenges are inevitable, but Glen emphasizes the importance of staying composed. “The most important thing is to remain calm, and my team and I always have a Plan B,” he says. His steady approach ensures that every event, big or small, goes off without a hitch.

Inspiration and Influence

Larry Alspaugh of Sterling Productions played a pivotal role in shaping Glen’s career, recognizing his talent as a lightboard jockey and giving him his first professional job. Glen also credits his wife and best friend, Karen, for inspiring him to believe in himself and his abilities. And for a soundtrack to his life? Madonna’s Ray of Light is a fitting choice for someone who has dedicated their career to illuminating life’s most joyful moments.

Fond Memories and Looking Ahead

From NYE block parties in 1999 and 2000, complete with homemade confetti cannons, to large-scale wedding events, Glen’s career has been filled with moments of creativity, joy, and light. “It’s about creating experiences that people remember,” Glen says simply. And with Rays of Light, he continues to do just that—turning events into dazzling, unforgettable celebrations.

From Catering to Creating Experiences

For Lynn Gonzalez of Multiplicity Wedding & Events, the path to wedding planning began in 2016 on the catering side of the industry. “I was always fascinated by how all the moving parts came together to create an experience,” she recalls. Over time, she discovered where her true passion lay—weddings. “What really drew me in was the emotion, the creativity, and the chance to be part of such a meaningful day. I love being able to take away the stress for couples so they can be fully present, while I focus on the details and bring their vision to life.”

A Love for Intimate, Personal Celebrations

When asked about her favorite events to plan, Lynn lights up. “My favorite events to plan are weddings, especially those that are intimate and full of personal details. I love elopements and micro-weddings because they give couples the chance to truly focus on each other and create a meaningful, memorable experience.” For Lynn, it’s all about weaving together the details that reflect each couple’s unique love story.

A Florida Keys Wedding to Remember

One wedding that stands out in her memory took place in the Florida Keys. “The couple wanted their day to feel very personal, relaxed, and meaningful, so every detail was tailored to reflect their story,” Lynn says. The ceremony by the water, followed by a cozy dinner with their closest loved ones, left a lasting impression. “It reminded me why I love planning weddings—helping couples design a day that feels authentically theirs.”

Defining Career Moments

Among her proudest achievements, one moment shines brightest—booking her first full-service wedding planning client. “It was such a proud moment because it showed the trust a couple placed in me to guide them through the entire process from start to finish,” she says. “Standing there on their wedding day, watching everything we had spent months planning come together seamlessly, was incredibly rewarding.”

Grace Under Pressure

While every planner knows that weddings come with surprises, Lynn’s calm and organized approach ensures couples never feel the stress. She remembers one event where a vendor ran late with a delivery. “I quickly reassessed the timeline, communicated with the team, and delegated tasks to ensure everything stayed on track. By staying calm and solution-focused, we were able to make adjustments seamlessly, and the couple had the day they envisioned without even realizing there had been an issue.” Moments like this reinforce why preparation, flexibility, and communication are essential in the world of wedding planning.

About Lynn

Born and raised in Key West, Lynn has always been drawn to creating memorable experiences. Today, she specializes in wedding and event planning with a special focus on intimate weddings and elopements. Beyond her professional role, she’s also a proud mom of three—a role that has taught her patience, organization, and the importance of celebrating life’s little moments.

“My goal is to continue growing my business while helping couples create stress-free, meaningful celebrations that feel truly theirs,” Lynn shares. Outside of work, she loves exploring new destinations, discovering local cuisine, and finding inspiration in design and décor trends.

And one fun fact? “I’m obsessed with details—whether it’s the perfect table setting or a unique floral arrangement, I notice the little things that make a big impact on the overall experience.”

A Focus on Connection

For Lauren Gunn, founder of Pop-Up Vows, weddings are about more than perfect details — they’re about joy, peace, and true connection. “My goal is simple: to make weddings feel less like a production and more like a true reflection of who a couple really is.”

Through planning, officiating, content creation, and photography, Lauren helps couples embrace the beauty of small celebrations. Her favorite events are always “intimate, peaceful, joyous, happy weddings.”

Unforgettable Moments

One of Lauren’s favorite memories is of a beach elopement where the couple’s young daughter carried the rings. “The ceremony was simple, heartfelt, and full of laughter — it reminded me why I love intimate weddings so much. It wasn’t about perfection; it was about connection, and that’s what made it unforgettable.”

Another highlight was helping a couple transition from a canceled big wedding to a meaningful elopement. “Seeing their relief and joy, knowing I turned what could have been disappointment into the best day of their lives, made me incredibly proud,” Lauren shares.

Grace Under Pressure

Even the most carefully planned events come with surprises. At one outdoor beach wedding, the weather took an unexpected turn. “Instead of panicking, I calmly shifted the setup, reassured the couple, and created a backup plan on the spot. The ceremony ended up being even more magical with the moody skies as a backdrop.”

For Lauren, moments like this prove that flexibility and a calm presence are just as important as the ceremony script itself.

A Personal Touch

Lauren’s journey into the wedding industry began during the height of COVID, when many couples had to cancel their large celebrations. She saw an opportunity to help them find joy in smaller, more intimate ceremonies — and Pop-Up Vows was born.

Today, she brings her talents to couples across NYC, Long Island, and South Florida. “Fun fact — I’ve officiated ceremonies everywhere from Central Park gardens to waterfront rooftops to beachside hideaways, and I thrive on making each one feel one-of-a-kind.”

Beyond the Vows

When she’s not helping couples celebrate love, Lauren enjoys her own beachside life in Long Beach, NY, or discovering new hidden-gem spots in Florida. She’s a proud boy mom, an empty nester, and dog mom to Bella and Penelope. Her mission remains at the heart of every event: to create stress-free, meaningful weddings that feel authentic, joyful, and unforgettable.
